Teams Set For NYC
Well, the teams are here. Duke, UCLA, Michigan and Southern Illinois. They all practiced today and are set to go for tonight's doubleheader.
Should be some good games.
Southern Illinois is 1-2 all-time versus Duke. The win came in the 1967 NIT when the Salukis won the title behind NY Knicks great Walt "Clyde" Frazier. Duke last beat Southern Illinois in 1993 when the Salukis had a guard by the name of Chris Lowery... the current Salukis head coach.
Duke plays alot in the NYC area (with their alumni base). They are 13-3 in games played in the region over the last 12 years.
The UCLA/ Michigan matchup pit two old friends.. Ben Howland and John Beilein. They two matchup when Howland was at Pitt and Beilein was at West Virginia. Howland holds a 3-2 all-time lead. Beilein, by the way, is 7-7 at Madison Square Garden.
